Video has no sound

Check the video window

  1. Hover your mouse over the video window, look for a speaker icon on the bottom right.
  2. If there is a line through the speaker icon, click it to turn on sound.
  3. Hover over the speaker icon, and check that the blue volume line is at the top. If it isn't, click the top of the bar.

Check your computer volume

Is your computer volume muted, or have you plugged in headphones? Check that your audio output is selected correctly. Find your operating system below:

Windows 10

  1. Select the Speakers Speakers icon icon on the taskbar.
    Note: If you don't see Speakers  displayed, it may be in the overflow area. Select Show hidden icons ^ to check there
  2. Next, select the arrow ^ to open a list of audio devices connected to your computer.
  3. Check that your audio is playing to the audio device you prefer, such as a speaker or headphones.


Windows 11

To change the audio output in Windows 11, do the following: 

1. Click the volume icon next to the clock; 

2. Click the arrow next to the volume bar; 

3. Switch to the desired audio device.

Apple Macintosh (macOS Ventura 13 & up)

  1. Open System Settings and click Sound.
  2. Choose an available device under the Output heading. The options here depend on the compatible devices connected to your Mac. Once you make your pick, your Mac’s audio will come from this selected speaker.

Apple Macintosh (macOS Monteray 12 & below)

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound , then click Output.

  2. Select the device you want to use in the list of sound output devices.

    All sound output devices available to your Mac are listed, including the computer’s internal speakers, devices plugged into your computer’s sound port (Audio port icon), USB speakers, and AirPlay devices.

    For any device plugged into the computer’s sound port, choose Headphones.
