Virtual Annual Meeting Rules of Procedure

BUSINESS CHAT AND SOCIAL CHAT

TRREB provides the chat room function as part of our AGM procedure. TRREB takes no responsibility for the opinions expressed in this chat room and cannot attest to the accuracy of information contained in any discussion. Members should exercise caution in sharing any information that may be confidential, personal information, and to refrain from making anti-competitive comments.  Members using the chat room are expected to be mindful of their obligations under the TRREB Code of Conduct, Bill 168 and are urged not to attempt to monopolize any discussion; to use language that is derogatory or may be offensive to others; harass or personally attack other Members, directors or staff during any discussion. Any violation of these rules may be referred to TRREB’s Professional Standard department and/or subject to other legal action as warranted.

ATTENDANCE AND QUORUM

  • Members shall ensure that any identifying features which are required for verification purposes of a Member’s identity are enabled upon joining and throughout the meeting. Members shall maintain a listening connection throughout the meeting whenever present. The Chair may cause or direct the disconnection or muting of a Member’s connection if the Member’s connection is causing undue interference with the meeting or the Member has exceeded time allocation or not abiding by these Rules at the Chair’s discretion.
  • The presence of a quorum shall be established by an identifiable Internet connection at the beginning of the meeting.

DECORUM IN DEBATE

  • All remarks must be directed through the Chair and not directly at other members, board directors, or staff.
  • Members shall not use personal remarks or attack other Members, board directors, or staff during discussion. Members are also reminded of their professional obligations to abide by the TRREB Code of Conduct and Bill 168 with respect to dealings with fellow Members, board directors, and staff.
  • THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ABUSIVE LANGUAGE AND UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR DURING MEETINGS.
  • Any unprofessional behaviour may be referred to TRREB’s Professional Standard department and/or subject to other legal action as warranted.
  • The Moderator may remove a Member from any chat function if the Member is not abiding by the Rules of Procedure at the Moderator’s discretion.

RECOGNITION

  • Members should address all questions through the Chair via the Business chat feature.
  • Members are permitted to participate in discussion on any motion via the Business Chat function.
  • Subject to TRREB’s President and Chair’s discretion and time permitting, the Chair, or their designate, will determine the order of discussion and the manner in which to address Member comments, whether individually or by addressing certain themes of discussion.
  • Unless asking for clarification or information, each Member should begin by indicating clearly whether they are for or against the motion

CONNECTION, INTERRUPTION OF A MEMBER AND MALFUNCTION

  • Each Member is responsible for their connection to the Internet and the meeting; no action shall be invalidated on the grounds that the loss of, or poor quality of, a Member’s individual connection prevented them from participating in the meeting.
  • We strongly advise that you use a laptop or desktop for an ideal experience.
  • Please also note that Internet Explorer and Edge are not compatible.
